Marketing & Search Engine Optimisation Services
Our Search Engine Optimisation Service
If you're not sure what Search Engine Optimisation is, see the guide below. We aim to get you high in the generic search results on Google, Yahoo, and MSN/Live. These are the search engines which handle the vast majority of search queries, and because they provide results to the other search engines we've got all bases covered.
How Much Does It Cost?
£295 gets all the hard work done. After that you may not need any further work, many of our customers don't, it depends on the search terms you're aiming at. Further work where required is charged at the current hourly rate with any content production on top. For example..
For £295 we will do all the optimisation on your website and do link-back analysis work to make sure the links back to your site are beneficial. We will produce an initial ranking report showing where you are in the results for each search phrase, for each search engine. A month later we produce another report comparing against the first, and another report a month later showing comparisons. We take action as appropriate on these reports.
If our initial efforts have not been as devastating as expected, we have an armoury of tools at our disposal to make sure we get your site where you want it, including article posting and syndication, blogging, news feeds and so on.
About Search Engine Optimisation
This is the term for improving your position in the search results. Actually there are two types of search results, see the diagram below, there are GENERIC results, and there are sponsored listings. We are all about generic listings. You can get into the sponsored listings right away by running a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign, this is where it costs you money everytime someone clicks your link. There are companies who can manage this for you, and we can recommend one, but we don't do it simply because it's very time consuming and equally as specialised as generic listings, but in a different way.

The diagram to the right shows the Pay-Per-Click sponsored listings in
GREEN, and the generic listings area in
RED.
PPC campaigns obviously work otherwise the concept would have fallen flat on it's face long ago, BUT, for popular search terms they can be expensive. Very expensive, and of course the money you spend on all the unproductive clicks (those which don't result in a sale) eats into the profit you make on a sale. The search shown in the diagram (for "drum shops in Sheffield") shows an unusually high number of sponsored listings actually. But as you will know if you have seen our
first case study getting to the top of the generic listings generates so much
FREE traffic that you can often abandon your PPC campaign, or at least turn it down. There is some merit in being at the top of the sponsored listings AND at the top of the generic listings for a search term, but not much!
search engine optimisation - what to avoid
Spam
The kind of SEO company you want to engage doesn't send out spam email. Regardless of the fantastic claims they make in their emails, some of which we've addressed below, just click 'delete'.
Claim 1: We Submit Your Site to over 500 Search Engines
How many?? We didn't even know there WERE that many! The simple fact is that by getting listed on Google, Yahoo! DMOZ, and Live, you've got all bases covered because the other search engines derive their results from these three. So how many search engines do you need to submit your site to?
FOUR, at most, because you may not even need to submit to search engines at all. As soon as you get a link on a site which is listed, your site will get listed too.
Claim 2: Your site is submitted monthly, for 12 months
Not only is this completely unnecessary, but it could even get your site taken off the listings. Google in particular hates persistent automatic bombardment. Proper site submission needs to be done manually, and a security image is present to ensure that a human is submitting the site. So play it safe, do it once, and do it yourself (or get us to do it).
Claim 3: Guaranteed Number One Position
Do they know what your key phrases are? No. Anybody worth their salt who's involved in SEO will know that it is IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee a number one position, or any other postition for that matter. They make these guarantees without knowing anything about your site or the keywords and phrases you want to use. They may be referring to Pay Per Click (PPC) sponsored listings of course, which is a different (and potentially very expensive) kettle of fish altogether.
Claim 4: Buy 2,000 quality links for £50
Does anyone
really think it's that simple? Throw 50 pounds at it and the job's done? Not on this planet unfortunately.
